Marble is considered the most elegant of stones. And what better way to add a touch of sophistication to your home than by adding these to your interior décor. A simple addition of marble tiles can prove to be a great way of personalizing space and turning it into a status symbol. Here, we learn a bit more about marble tiles and its many facets.

Slabs of Marble
Marble tiles have been used over the centuries by the rich and famous to decorate their homes and serve as an indication of their class. The ancient Greeks, Romans and Egyptians; all seemed to have an affinity for this particular building material and some of their monuments (that survive today) testify to its popularity.
Today, marble tiles are used generously for residential purposes and can typically be seen in bathrooms, the foyer, the kitchen area and the hallway. They are also used for commercial ventures and can be seen on prominent display in hotels, offices and other such venues. Marble tiles are versatile and can fit most design requirements and interior style aesthetics. Marble also has the upper hand over other materials when it comes to durability.

Some of the best Slabs of Marble come from countries such as Belgium, Italy and Greece. The marble produced in these countries are of superior quality and are polished and sealed appropriately to ensure that the unique look of the stone is not compromised. However, such marble tiles can be expensive – especially if you’re looking to import them.

Fortunately, there’s a marble slab type to suit every budget. While some of them are pricey and rare, others are very affordable and can be easily obtained. The cost typically depends on the quantity of marble tiles you require and also the place from where it originated.

One of the least expensive options for a marble tile is the cultured marble. Cultured marble tiles and marble slabs are typically made of marble dust and binding agents. You can use them to re-create the marble look without exceeding your budget. In fact, many bath accessories such as tubs and vanities are made of this same marble variation. Depending on the material, they can be as strong and durable as a traditional marble slab. They’re also low maintenance- making them the ideal choice for people with busy lifestyles.

If you really want your marble products to last for a long time; you must take appropriate care of the same. The stone is particularly porous and vulnerable to staining without proper maintenance measures. To protect against the same, it’s important to wipe up any spill on the marble poducts as soon as possible. You can also use certain cleansers to retain the original look of the same. However, always adhere to the manufacturer’s instruction before using a cleaning product; as some of them can leave etches or permanent marks on the stone.
